David (Dave) Christopherson was born on June 10, 1940, in St. Paul, Minnesota to George and Ottilie (Christen) Christopherson. His father served in the US Navy during WWII, and the family moved to San Diego, CA. Dave graduated from high school in 1958, obtained an appointment to the US Coast Guard Academy, but then elected to enlist in the US Army. He was stationed in Tobyhanna Army Depot, Pennsylvania, as an electronic technician. During his tour there, he met and married Carol Brozoski in 1962. They lived in New Jersey and then moved back to San Diego, where their twin sons, John and Jim, were born in 1964. The family then relocated to the San Francisco Bay area, where their daughter, Pam, was born in 1966. Carol passed away in 1967, leaving Dave with three young children. He kept the family together despite the difficulties, and in 1969, he married Nancy Fuller. Dave and Nancy had four children together – David (1971), Robert (1978), Suzanne (1982) and Stephen (1985).
In 1972, Dave obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from San Diego State University, with the intention of becoming an elementary teacher. However, his technical ability led him into the emerging computer industry, and he built a very successful career working in that sector. In 1983, he joined Epson America in California, and in 1996 he was asked to perform a “short term” assignment in Indianapolis, so the family relocated to Zionsville. Dave was so successful at growing the facility in Indianapolis that the company ended up expanding further, and Dave eventually retired from Epson in 2007.
Dave was a man who loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He had a quick wit, and a great sense of humor, which always left you thinking. He always had kind words for everyone and was a great mentor in his personal and professional life. At his retirement, many people came forward to talk about the impact Dave had on their lives and careers. He was also a man of faith and strong moral character, and he always had a positive outlook on life.
Dave is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nancy, his children, Jim, John, Pam, David, Robert, Suzanne and Stephen, his grandchildren Emily, Henry, Joe, Luke, Eve, Scott, Sarah, Anthony, Sean, Sydney, Shane, Faye, Dorothy, and his grandson due in July, as well as his great-grandchildren, Caroline and George, and his faithful little companion, Rocky.
