Jim and Janice (Lauber) Hummel left a message on February 20, 2019:
Dear Vera, How very saddened we were to learn of Jim's death today. He truly fought the good fight. We just saw Tedd and Joyce this past weekend, sadly at the services for Tedd's sister. We let them know today about Jim. We always enjoyed seeing you both when you were able to attend our class reunions (we will celebrate our 65th one this year). Jim Hummel has many fond memories of them both when they attended the old Assumption Grade School together. We would like to extend our heartfelt sympathy to you and all your family on behalf of the Reitz Memorial High School Class of 1954, as well as from the two of us. Be assured you will remain in our hearts and in our prayers. Blessings from Jim and Janice (Lauber) Hummel

I met Jim at the Christ Renews His Parish men's retreat weekend at St. Alphonsus. I knew him as a gentle, soft-spoken man of few words. He had a kind heart, a good sense of humor, and a welcoming smile. I'm proud to count him among my friends and a brother 4th Degree Knight of Columbus. Jim will be sorely missed and fondly remembered!
