Leigh Allison Rader, 50, of Arcadia, Indiana, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 20, 2021 after a long, brave battle with kidney disease.
She was born in Tipton, Indiana and raised in Noblesville, Indiana by her mother Becky Avon, step father, John Graham Sr., and grandparents, Ralph and Ruth Ann Musselman.
Leigh attended Noblesville and Hamilton Southeastern High Schools. This is when she discovered her love of caring for disabled children. After high school she started her career as a vet-tech.
Her entire life she had a passion for animals big and small. She particularly loved elephants and birds of all kinds, but Canadian Geese held a special place in her heart, she loved their evil nature and “rubber feet”.
Above everything else she was a mother and a nana. The love for her children and grandchildren was immeasurable. Almost everything she did in her life was to benefit them in some way. She always put her children before her, it was just embedded in her soul.
Her interest and passions were numerous. She always went full steam into everything that caught her fancy. Horseback riding, painting, making blankets, reborn dolls and several other smaller crafts that she wanted to try. She wasn’t afraid to try new things and was extremely good at all that she created.
She loved crime documentaries, The Simpsons, zombie flicks (“braaaains”) and so many other different kinds of movies.
Musically she was an 80’s girl and she loved all kinds of hair metal, Motley Crue and Poison were two of her favorites. However, her true musical love was the King…. Elvis Presley and she took several trips to Graceland. Elvis was “her man” and he brought her great happiness.
Leigh and her mother Becky were inseparable, and from the day she was born they were best friends for life. Their bond and unconditional love was unbreakable.
Leigh and her brother Jeff (JB) loved to spend time together, watching movies, having lunch, and just driving around. She had her loving big sister insults to him, and he liked to be the annoying little brother to her at times. But through it all they were a team, and were there for each other her entire life.
The friends she made were extremely important to her. When Leigh became your friend, you knew in your heart that she was genuine and would always be there for you. If you needed help, she would do anything she could to be there for you.
Again her children were everything to her. Corey, “The Boy”, Mitchell “Bear” and Hallie, “Monk” were her heart. And when she married her second husband Marc and his three daughters, she accepted them as her own and loved them unconditionally. To her they were all “her” children, the words step children did exist in her vocabulary.
Each time she became a “Nana” she was overwhelmed with happiness. Jace, Brylee, and Belamie were a light in her life and anytime she saw them nothing else mattered. She was their nana and they were her angels.
Leigh will be missed by everyone that loved her more than words can describe.
Leigh was preceded in death by her father, John Graham Sr., great grandmother, Hallie Jessup, grandparents: Ralph and Ruth Ann Musselman, Grandparents: Ralph and Annie Prince, and guardian child; Tony Hedrick.
