Lester Alan Voorhis, 67, of Zionsville, passed away Saturday, February 20, 2021.

Lester was born in Lebanon, IN of April 1, 1953, son of Barbara (Hightshue) and the late Alan H. Voorhis.

Lester graduated from Zionsville High School in 1972, and then enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was a lifelong resident of Boone County, operating Metzger Lumber Company for a number of years. He was also passionate about books, music, storytelling and mycology.

Survivors include his children: Emily Voorhis, Micah Voorhis, Jill Voorhis, Galan Voorhis, and Hannah (Jessup) Hutsen; grandchildren: Hunter Burke, Taryn Burke, Lillian Brown, Chase Burke, Shawna Hayes, Rowan Brown, Shawn Hayes, Kassidy Voorhis, Jackson Hayes, Piper Brown and Olivia Hutsen; his mother: Barbara; brother: Mike (Monica) Voorhis; and sister: Marcel (Mike) Wallace.

Friends and family will gather Thursday, March 4, 2021 for a Celebration of his Life at 3pm at Simplicity Funeral and Cremation Care, 125 W. Sycamore St. Zionsville, IN 46077. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to Abbie Hunt Bryce Home, 4760 Pennwood Dr. Indianapolis, IN 46205.

Due to Covid-19 recommendations there will be limited capacity at the traditional Service. Lester’s children would like to invite friends and loved ones to a celebration of life at American Legion Post 79 on March 6th at 5pm, 9950 E. 660 S. Zionsville, IN 46077. Please bring a side-dish and stories to share.
